No one can deny that our hard fought struggle for the establishment of a just democracy over a decade ago has yielded incredible benefits for all South Africans.
The struggle of our leaders saw a unique transition from the darkness and heat of oppression, ignorance and hatred to the radiance of justice, equality and reconciliation. This enlightened leadership progressed us to nationhood, regarded as a "miracle", with one of the most dynamic constitutions in the world.
The common thread that emerged out of the process was the principle of "communication" in the delivery of the miracle to the Rainbow Nation and the lack of it that contributed to past differences and resultant polarization. Much still has to be done with issues such as crime and corruption.
The media has played a pivotal and monumental role in the establishment of the new order and has been heavily relied upon by South Africans for dissemination of information whether cultural, political or religious affairs.
We applaud the Government's stance of "de-massifying" the media especially radio from a monolithically self-serving party tool of the past to allow it to serve the diversity of our Rainbow Nation through the institution of the Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (ICASA).
SANHA has supported the establishment of permanent and temporary special events community radio stations in keeping with these principles. It will continue in this manner as we believe it is a community's right to keep themselves informed.
On the flipside of this is the balance between responsible use and misuse of the airwaves. SANHA will act through the relevant authority on actions taken by any radio station that behaves irresponsibly and pursues their own agendas that are contrary to the spirit of goodwill. Good radio is the 'oil' of the wheels of communication in societal development. The cause of Islam should not suffer from the myopic vision or actions of a few.
Our action is guided by the principle of justice enshrined in the Noble Quran where we are commanded that, "O ye who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even as against yourselves, or your parents, or your kin, and whether it be (against) rich or poor, For Allah best protect both..."
Surah 4: Verse 135

Abû Hurayrah (may Allâh be pleased with him)narrated
Rasûlullâh (may
Allâh’s salutations and peace be with him)said:
If someone is invited; he should accept.
If he is fasting; he should pray (for his host). If he is not; he should eat.
Commentary:
It is important not to hurt
anyone’s feelings. We should always try and accept invitations. If one
is fasting one may still attend and pray for the host. Another narration
recommends that if the fast is optional one should terminate the fast and
participate in the meal.
However, one should note that if by accepting the invitation, one would necessarily become involved in any Haraam act such as singing, dancing, etc. then it would be impermissible to accept such invitations.

One out of every five persons on this planet is a Muslim. He is your neighbour, customer, supplier, employee, boss or friend.
Islam, a complete way of life - Socially, economically and politically
- SOCIAL LIFE
The Social life of a Muslim is based upon supreme principles and designed to secure happiness with prosperity for the individual as well as society. Nowhere in Islam can you find any mention of superiority on accounts of class, origin, race or wealth. Islamically, humanity represents one family, as stated in the Glorious Quran:
"O Mankind we created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes that you may know each other..." (Surah 49: Verse 13)
- ECONOMIC LIFE
The economic life of Islam is based upon solid foundations and divine instructions. Earning a living through decent labour is a great virtue and dependence on somebody else is a social stigma. Islam permits honest trade but forbids interest, cheating, hiding defects of merchandise from the dealers, exploiting the needs of the customers, monopoly of stocks for unfair profit and many other evil / unfair business practices. The Quran states
"So establish weight with justice and fall not short of the balance" (Surah 55: Verse 9)
- POLITICAL LIFE
The political life of a Muslim is based on sound spiritual and moral foundations and is guided by divine instructions. It is not proletariat, its sovereignty neither belongs to the state nor does it belong to the people, but it belongs to God, and the Quran acts as the constitution. As the Quran says
"...And those who conduct their affairs by mutual consultation..."(Surah 42: Verse 38)
It can be observed here that in Islam it does not necessarily mean the majority should rule. The minority can also rule over the majority provided their rule is based on justice and equality.

I am an item for whom men have gone to the ends of the earth, fought wars and I have become indispensable to the food industry. You will find me in your home. Do you know me?
-
I could originally be found growing wild in Sicily and Sardinia as a pickled bud of the "Capparis spinosa" bush. Today, I can be purchased in most supermarkets and I am available salted, in brine or vinegar and commonly used in salads, fish dishes and sauces.
Do you know me?
I am Capers.
-
My Botanical name is "Armoracia rusticana", I am the root of a perennial plant belonging to the Brassicaceae family and native to South Eastern Europe and Western Asia. I have received accolades for my medicinal qualities. Greeks used me for the treatment of rheumatism and as a rub for lower back pain. In modern times, I am sold grated and sometimes creamed as a sauce as well as mixed into mustards and flavoured butters.
Have you guessed who I am?
I am Horseradish

In a serious world of Halaal we take this moment to bring you a smile, a chuckle or even a hearty laugh. It's therapeutic, so pass it on:
A bloke working for the local council is having his fifth tea break for the day. He is talking with his colleagues with a pie in one hand and a mug of tea in the other. All of a sudden he moves fast to crush a snail beneath his boots.
"Why did you do that?" asks one of the blokes. "He wasn't hurting you."
"No, but he's been following me around all day."

YOUR NEWS ….. IT PAYS TO ADVERTISE!
TELL US AND WE'LL TELL THE WORLD
Annatto natural food colourants are used in cheese, smoked fish, sausage casings, sauces etc. It is also used to enhance the colour of frozen vegetables. Not only does Annatto make our food look tasty but it can make us humans look pretty good when used in cosmetics. Even certain medicines need to look appealing.
Food that is coloured could be Haraam if non-Halaal colourants are used, no matter how small a quantity. Not enough attention has been given to Annatto natural colourants, which are amongst the oldest colourants known to man and are derived from the Bixa Oreland shrub. But a note of caution, although Annatto is a natural product extracted from a plant. It does not always mean it is Halaal. Some producers of Annatto use alcohol in the extraction process.
Trans-Extraction (Pty) Ltd is a company that manufactures Halaal Annatto natural food colourant and has over 30 years of experience. We have acquired SANHA accreditation because we recognize the importance of supplying our Annatto natural colorants to a Halaal market. Recently Trans-Extraction has started exporting Halaal Annatto colourants to Pakistan and Egypt.
